Who are we?
We are a rookie robotics team started from two local high schools that are planning on participating in the First Robotics Program. The team started last year when Honesdale High School students joined with a team (2600) from New Jersey. While observing this team they built a small robot which worked with team 2600's full size robot, in which they had built. When Honesdale High School students got to the competition they decided that they would like to start a team of there own. Throughout the next following months and summer, Honesdale High School students planned on ways they would be able accomplishing the start of a team. During the summer, teachers and administrators from both Honesdale High School and Western Wayne High School discussed logic financial options to create robotics teams and programs. Due to the start of a new program and it's large amounts of funding needed, neither district had the capabilities of funding new teams. It was then that teachers and administrators agreed that an efficient way to offer this program to both schools would be through a merged team. Collaborating and combining each school's talented students and facilities to house such a program and team.
What does this competition teach us?
Other then just the fact that we will learn how to build robots we will learn many other valuable team building skills. Some of these skills are engineering, electronics, mechanical skills, programming and team leadership skills. But, one of the major skills that we will learn is how to work in a large group to achieve one task. We also are eager to develop further mathematical skills and technology skills.
What is First?
